As part of the Tirana Architecture Triennale, the project explores the intersection of digital and physical urban spaces through a six-day workshop titled “UPS - Urban Placemaking Soup.” Centered on the Triennale’s theme, “Virtually Present, Physically Invisible,” it examines how gig economy applications shape Tirana’s public spaces and promotes collective stewardship through placemaking.
In collaboration with Barleti University, the workshop connected students with local gig workers and urban communities in Tirana. Using artistic research tools and site-specific interventions, it bridged the digital realm of these applications with the city’s physical spaces.
The outcome was a video installation featuring 6 short documentary films made by the students. While addressing gig economy challenges, the films through a poetic lense show the students encounters with Tirana’s rider community.
